More and more, after 10 years of career as headhunter, I believe that the secret recipe to succeed in the business is the combination of 3 factors:
1- brain, as you need to be lucid to understand the business , appreciate its nuances and predict unforeseen scenarios, as you need to make sure to catch the right wave to stay ahead of the game;
2- heart, or as one of my fellow colleagues would say, compassion. Taking time to hear , feel candidates is important , as we are not selling JDs or CVs, but we shape up big organizations changing people life, and a caring approach to the “human capital” gets the key to one’s trust (and success);
3- guts (or better say balls?): sky is the limit , and a daring spirit will take you above and beyond. Regardless of being a client or candidate, everyone is a stake-holder : never be afraid to sell a career dream to your best client, or to make a bold move to get a deal closed. Success lies under any unturned stone;
Not getting the above, is not getting the ultimate sense of what you doing every day. Being a headhunter is way more than being a resume spammer with a black folder.
